With this season of anime coming to a close and as the new season steadily approaches, here are my Top 5 Anime You Should Watch This Season:
- Twin Star Exorcists
Where to watch: Crunchyroll
Although Twin Star Exorcists originally debuted in 2016, this latest arc seems to be bringing the series to a close. Twin Star Exorcists is about Rokuro Enmado (a kid who is striving to become the strongest exorcist in the world), fighting against the kegare (evil spirits) in the spirit realm called “Magano”; until one day due to some tragic events that lead him to go astray from his dream. Rokuro always seemed to be a knucklehead with great potential. One day as Rokuro is taking a walk, he notices a girl falling from the sky. Her name is Adishino Benio, another young exorcist with amazing talent and great upside. Throughout the series the two young exorcists are presented with plenty of obstacles and challenges and through a series of events they have been named the Twin Star Exorcists. Though it seems the series is coming to a close, it’s never too late to catch up to the latest episode and join in on this amazing ride.
- Blue exorcists Kyoto saga
Where to watch: Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Amazon Anime Strike
Blue Exorcist Kyoto saga expands upon the first season which originally aired in April 2011, but is now back with its second season. For first time watchers or those who are returning to the anime, “Note” that this second season picks up around episode 17, where the original anime went into filler content. For those who are new and who don’t know exactly what filler content is, it’s content that veers away from the original story and is done by the studio that’s producing the anime. Now the series picks back up with the original content of the manga: Rin along with his twin brother Yukio, who were raised by their father who was one of the top exorcist. They find out that they are the spawns of Satan, and are now on the mission to destroy Satan himself and restore order to the world.
- Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation
Where to watch: Crunchyroll and Hulu
This is a continuation of the second season. Yowamushi Pedal is about a young teen named Onada Sakamichi (who loves to ride his bike to the neighboring town 2 km away to buy anime and go to conventions). He initially wants to join an anime club at school, but runs into two classmates who are already great cyclists. After a race with one of the kids, he eventually joins the cycling club. Now the gang is back and the seniors are leaving behind the first and second years to go forth to defend the championship. With the new generation of Soho riders ready to defend their championship against the rival school Hakone Academy, it’s going to be interesting to see how the new generation stacks up against the rest of the powerhouse schools looking for revenge.
- Masamune- kuns Revenge
Where to watch: Crunchyroll
Eight years ago Makabe Masamune was a short fat kid who was harshly denied by the girl he wanted to date. Now, he has lost all of his excess weight, changed his name, and has become one of the hottest guys at the school. His goal is to woo the beautiful Adagaki Aki (the girl who denied him as a kid), to make her fall in love with him so that he can deny her the same way that she did him eight years ago. This series is full of comedy and romance and offers a enjoyable experience with every episode.
- Dragon Ball Super
Where to watch: Crunchyroll, Funimation
The action packed series is now back with its latest arc called “The Universe Survival Tournament”. Goku and the gang are coming together again to battle in the tournament of universes to see who’s the strongest. However this also proves to be one of the most challenging obstacles the gang has yet to face: if their universe were to lose they would be erased from existence!
